Officials update threat warning to highest level.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a statement on Thursday elevating the Travel Health Notice for cruise ships from level 3 to level 4, the highest warning level. The notice encouraged both the vaccinated and the unvaccinated from traveling via cruise ship if at all possible, and recommended getting tested both before and after the trip if going at all.
“The virus that causes COVID-19 spreads easily between people in close quarters on board ships, and the chance of getting COVID-19 on cruise ships is very high, even if you are fully vaccinated and have received a COVID-19 vaccine booster dose,” the CDC stated.
